The Vislock Story

Founder and CEO, had been setting up and managing multiple permit to dig processes on some of the largest projects in Europe.

This led to the creation of Vision Survey, a company specialising in overground utility surveys for major infrastructure projects with clients such as Balfour Beatty and Laing O’Rourke. With a team of over one hundred professionals, Vision Survey delivers a wide range of services to the UK construction industry, including engineering and land surveying, underground mapping, and project risk management.

The CEO’s eureka moment came after growing frustrated with organisations’ traditional, paper-based permit to dig procedures — processes that were cumbersome, confusing, and inefficient. These outdated methods often led to costly errors and an increased risk of utility strikes. There had to be a better way to standardise and modernise the approach.

Drawing on more than 25 years of experience, the CEO and the Vision Survey team developed Vislock — the only fully paperless platform designed to speed up, streamline, and de-risk construction projects. Vislock is transforming how teams manage excavation safety, opening the industry’s eyes to a smarter, more efficient way of working.

Managing Director

John Gray is the managing director of Vislock. After 25 years within the permit to dig industry, John realised the need for a digital paperless system. In his spare time, John enjoys training and taking part in various charity events.

Technical Director

Mehdi Kermani is our Technical Director and the driving force behind the software’s development. With a strong background as a software developer for many years, Mehdi Kermani and his team of five developers continuously enhance Vislock’s platform, integrating AI technologies and innovative features to keep it at the forefront of the industry.
